Google launches its own alternative to TikTok: this is Tangi
Table of contents:
At the beginning of the year, the Google team launched Tangi, a cross between TikTok and Pinterest. The idea behind this social network is to share short videos with DIY-style tutorials and tips to learn something new every day.
When it was launched it was only available in its web version and for iOS users, but the Android app has already been released.
A social network to learn something new every day
What will you find in Tangi? Videos of 60 seconds (or less) on DIY, crafts, beauty tips, cooking recipes, decoration and everything related to lifestyle.
All content is divided into categories, so it's easy for you to scroll through all the suggested videos. You will see that it follows the same style as TikTok with short videos in vertical format, but designed for a creative community.
You will find tips from how to start with lettering, using recycled material to decorate, applying eyeliner to tricks so that your lifelong recipes have a different touch. You can watch the videos without creating a Tangi account, but if you want to upload your content or create a community, it will be a requirement to log in with your Google account.
It also has some features that remind us of Pinterest. For example, it has an option called “TryIts” that allows users to share their own creations from Tangi's videosIf you have seen a video on how to decorate a cake, you can upload a photo showing the results of following the instructions in the tutorial. A way to create a community and encourage users to try the tips or tricks in the videos.
Some extra options you'll find when you open a video is the ability to save them to your own albums or boards, leave comments or give me Like. And of course, you can follow your favorite creators, or create your own community by encouraging them to follow you.
Your profile will show all the videos you've uploaded, your Try Its and bookmarks, which can be public or private. And if you want, you can write a mini biography, link to your website or YouTube channel, among other information.
Google has partnered with a number of creators to power the platform, so you'll find plenty of artistic content with pro tips on different topics. If you want to try the dynamics of this application created by Area 120 of Google, you can take a look at its web version, or download its app for iOS and Android.
