The Twitter account @WABetaInfo has published on the social network that WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature that allows you to quickly search for a message by choosing a date .
Although WhatsApp already has a search function in chats, it does not allow you to search for a message sent or received on a specific day. And this is precisely what the new "Search by date" function will offer, the option of narrowing the search for messages to specific dates.
The commented account has even been able to show a preview of the function, despite being in an alpha stage of development. As we have seen, when the function is enabled a new Calendar icon will appear on the chat search screen.
By touching this new icon, WhatsApp will display a carousel date selector so we can choose the exact day where we want to search.
This new feature will allow us to get to what we are looking for more quickly. However, at the moment we don't know exactly how this new functionality will work. Apparently, the date could be used to tell the application from which date it should perform the search, thus being able to shorten it.
On the other hand, we must bear in mind that this feature is in a fairly early stage of development, so it could change both in terms of design and functionalitybefore it reaches all users.
It can certainly be quite an interesting feature for users who have many chats or very long chats. Who has not ever had to search for a message in a WhatsApp chat?
