Instagram, the most popular social network for photography, launched dark mode a few months ago. An option that is already available on both iOS and Android, and that adds black tones to the interface. In this way, it adapts to the dark mode of Android 10 and iOS 13. Until now, Instagram's night mode was activated through the system settings, but the social network has added a new option. So you can activate it manually.
The new way to activate the dark mode of Instagram allows us to select the black tones even when the dark mode is not applied in the system. In this way, even users of versions prior to iOS 13 or Android 10 can apply the new interface, which offers a better experience in low light conditions and manages to save a little more battery on OLED panels. At the moment, this option is only available on Android. First you will need to update the application. You can do it from the 'Updates' section in Google Play.
If the update still does not appear, you can download the latest available APK from here.
Choose between the three options to activate the dark mode of Instagram
This activates the dark mode. Via: @ilkevcl.Once updated, enter the app and go to your profile. Next, click on the side menu via the button with the three lines at the top. click on 'Settings'.Swipe to the option that says 'Theme'. Now Instagram will allow you to choose the following options.
- Light: Keeps Instagram theme blank, even if system dark mode is enabled.
- Dark: Activate Instagram's dark mode, even if system mode is disabled.
- System Default: will change the theme automatically, depending on whether system dark mode is enabled or not.
When you select the option you will see the Instagram colors change quickly. If you want to deactivate it, you will have to follow the same steps. My recommendation is that you keep it activated if you spend a lot of time on Instagram. It's better for your eyes and if your phone has an OLED screen, you'll save battery life. Don't worry about the content as it will be displayed as usual.
