WhatsApp, the most popular social messaging network, does not stop receiving news. During the last weeks, the improvements that we have seen in this app were related to video calls, since it is a function that is widely used during these weeks of confinement. However, the new function is somewhat different: allows you to add contacts in a new way, and the truth is much more useful: through a QR code I'll tell you how does it work.
Until now, if we wanted to add a contact in WhatsApp, we had to do it from the 'Contacts' app on our mobile.Put the name, phone number, save, enter WhatsApp, update the contact list and start chatting. Although the process is easy, it is somewhat long if we want to start a conversation quickly in the app. With the new QR function, adding a contact is much more useful. We just have to focus on the code with our mobile camera and wait for WhatsApp to do the rest.
An interesting option is that the code can be restored or reset, so that the previous QR codes become unusable.
How to add contacts by QR in WhatsApp
Currently, this feature is only available in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android and iOS. If you are part of the program, you will only have to update to the latest version from the Play Store or App Store.Next, enter the app and go to the WhatsApp settings You will see that next to your name there is a QR icon.
If you press, two tabs will be displayed. The first is the QR code that you must show to your friends or to the person who wants to save your number. The other tab is for you to scan a QR and save the contact in WhatsApp.
Within the option, by clicking on the three dots that appear in the upper zone, we can restore the QR code. A new one will be generated and the old one will not be usable. This is useful if you've shared a screenshot of your code with someone or posted it on social media and don't want anyone to have your number. On the other hand, it is not necessary to reset it every time we are going to show it to someone, although it is advisable to renew it periodically.
The feature will be available to all users in a few weeks.
