These days of quarantine and isolation have prevented us from being close to the people we love, and special dates have turned into long video call sessions. But that doesn't stop you from using your creativity to surprise them on special days, even when you're far away.
Forget the traditional boring video congratulations and create something more original. You don't need to have professional knowledge to make a video with effects and shots that are out of the ordinary. You can use the functions offered by Instagram or TikTok to give a fun touch to your congratulations. We show you how you can do it without getting too complicated.
Use the effects and filters of Instagram Stories
Instagram provides a series of filters and effects so that the Stories are fun and original. So you can use them to record some shots with special effects like in movies or give yourself a special look.
So start creating your Story by choosing those effects that will add fun to your final video. If you are an intensive user of Instagram you will already know how to do it, and if not we give you a little help:
- When you open the Instagram interface to create your story you will see some effects suggested by Instagram. It's fine to start with, but don't just stick with those options.
- To view all available effects scroll until you find the “Explore Effects” icon. You will see tons of styles divided by categories.
For example, if you go to Selfies you will find effects to add flying butterflies, stars, masks, hearts. In Fun you have an interesting collection of effects to give a fun touch like Mix Tape or The New Flavor. Or you can go straight to Animals and try bunny ears, flamingo glasses, or turn into just about any animal.
And of course, you can add stickers, music, text It has a world of elements that allow you to customize the style of your video from congratulation. Record several Stories, save them, but do not publish them. Then, from the mobile Gallery you can edit them to unite them in a single video.
Use the effects of TikTok MVs
TikTok allows you to create different types of videos and creations. We'll leave out the Statuses because they're too boring to include in a congratulatory video, but we can focus on the effects of the MVs to give a touch of fun and emotion at the same time , for at least a few seconds.
You may have seen that one of the most popular is Retrospective, which allows you to upload up to 5 photos and travel back in time. You can add photos of the person you want to congratulate or images of you together. You don't necessarily have to follow the melancholic style that this MV proposes. You can choose funny photos, those that are so ridiculous that they are only enjoyed among friends or families.
Other options with fast and fun transitions are Beat Switch or My Vacation, among other proposals. Remember that you can edit them and change the sound, add text and stickers, etc.And of course, don't forget to check out the hundreds of TikTok effects that you can use in any video.
Remember to save all the videos you create on TikTok (without posting them) to join them and create a fun mega video for your friend or family member.
Say it singing with TikTok audios
Don't worry, you won't have to expose your talent as a singer. You can use the trending songs, and funny audios from Tiktok.
I'm sure you've seen a lot of posts on TikTok with funny dialogues. So just look through posts for funny audio that works for the video you're creating, whether it's distorted user-uploaded conversations, movie dialogue, or those trending viral phrases.
Or you can choose one of the trending songs to play the clown in front of the camera and dedicate a tender and funny moment to your friend or family member. For example, these days Camilo's Favorite song is one of the most used for couple dedication. You can choreograph or add effects to make your scene creative and fun.
You can also upload your own audios and take advantage of TikTok's features to give it a more original touch using voice effects. Or make a duet with the favorite singer of the person you want to congratulate, and don't publish it, just save it to add it to the final result of your video.
Use the most popular TikTok tricks
You have seen many videos that look like a mega production on TikTok…. objects that appear out of nowhere, infinite fall, change of clothes instantly. How about adding one of these tricks to your congratulatory video? For example, a birthday cake can appear out of nowhere to celebrate from a distance, or pretend that you change your clothes at the moment to celebrate a certain event, etc.
In a previous post, we explained in detail how to do the 10 most popular TikTok editing tricks. You can copy the one that interests you and customize it. You will see that your video will be original and fun without so much effort. And if you don't know how to use TikTok's basic editing options, don't worry, we'll show you in the video.
Use Augmented Reality filters that add fun
There are tons of augmented reality filters on Instagram and TikTok that you can apply with the front camera, and have a selfie video with butterflies, rabbit ears and more. But you can also spice up your videos by applying AR filters that add fun to your space
If you search TikTok within the Comedy effects you will find several AR filters with animals turning your room into a virtual aquarium, among other options. Or you can make a dinosaur come out of your coffee cup while you're talking in the video or wander around the room.
And Google Lens also has animals in 3D AR that you can integrate into your living room and record yourself, for example, with a tiger or an elephant keeping you company. It can be a fun idea to congratulate the little ones in the house.
Both TikTok and Instagram Stories allow you to record videos of just a few seconds, so you'll need an app to edit and combine them into a single video.
