This is Google's new formula for watching movies for free
Table of contents:
Would you watch a free movie in exchange for consuming during the broadcast? It is something we already see on television, and this formula could reach to one of the Google applications: Play Movies. The idea is to offer users free content, but showing some ads as a method of income. This feature might be coming soon.
XDA Developers, the popular device forum, has reviewed the latest version of the Google Play Movies APK.Some lines have been discovered in the source code where they show this feature: that of offering free content by showing . In the lines you can read phrases like "free with ads", "hundreds of movies, only a few ads" or "watch free with ads". These ads would be displayed in a floating window or as categories, as long as the user can see free titles with some . We don't know where these ads will appear, since Google has not released this option yet. However, we expect it to be similar to YouTube. Or, displaying at the beginning of playback.
Ads like on YouTube?
This is good news, but this feature is not expected to be included in the release content. Rather, it could be available in less popular movies, or those that have been on the platform for a while.
If we take a look at Play Movies, we see that the catalog is very up to date. We find titles like 'Parasites', 'Frozen 2', 'Joker' etc. The drawback is that we have to pay for each movie, and not for a subscription that allows us to see unlimited content, as is the case with Netflix or HBO. The price on the Google platform is usually around 3 euros to rent the content or 10 euros to buy. Including ads to view free content is not a bad idea . Especially in times of confinement.
At the moment, Google has not confirmed when this feature will be released, but it appears to be imminent. The latest APK, with version 4.18.37 has not yet been published. We will be watching to see how this new option works.
