Now that we have a lot of time to spend at home, one of the most popular ways of entertainment, and that can make us stop looking at screens, is podcasts. Covering every topic imaginable, these internet radio shows can be listened to through many apps. Applications that we can download, for free, through the Android Play Store. One of them, how could it be otherwise, is developed by Google and is called 'Google Podcasts'. It is a very simple to use application, with a minimalist, clear and functional design that, in addition, has now been renewed with a new design and new functions to improve the listening experience of podcasts.
Auto-download and notification settings
This new version is being released, in a phased manner, so that all Android users can enjoy it as soon as possible, but it is likely that if you try to update now, do not have it available You will know that it is the new update that you have downloaded because the first thing you will see, once the app is open, will be a welcome screen in which you are invited to discover everything new in the tool.
The most notable novelty is being able to automatically download new episodes of podcasts. Although this new function may have already been available to some users, it is now much more accessible and compatible with everyone. Of course, the auto-delete function of the episodes already listened to is maintained, so that you never run out of space.Another great new feature is configuring alerts for new podcasts: you can select which podcast you want to receive alerts from.
One of the main novelties of the new Google Podcasts design is the implementation of a bottom bar with three different sections. The home tab shows you the new episodes that have appeared from the podcasts you're subscribed to. Now, instead of being arranged as a grid, they will appear in a handy carousel at the top of the screen. On the main screen, after subscriptions, podcasts suggested by the application and that you have not downloaded or are not subscribed to will no longer appear. Instead, you'll see a full list of episodes for podcasts you're already subscribed to, in case you want to check out previous episodes.
