A few weeks ago the General Directorate of Traffic in Spain launched the application mi DGT for mobile phones Android and iPhone. This application is one of the most pioneering in the world in this sense, as it allows you to carry your driving license, your vehicle documentation and other information of interest on your mobile. When it went on the market, everyone started to download it to their mobile phones, but they quickly realized that the most important part of the application was useless.
This has currently changed, as the DGT has confirmed that this application can now replace the physical card (at least in Spain) and It is totally valid before a traffic control. It is true that many will not be able to leave their homes right now due to the confinement of the coronavirus, but that does not mean that in a few weeks we will not be able to do it again. The application is really useful, below we will tell you what it is for.
Hello, that's right. Unless you are going to drive outside of Spain. https://t.co/3kTVYWqKHC Greetings. pic.twitter.com/SUnNRkMygf

What can you do with the miDGT application?
This application, created by the official body (not to be confused with others because there are several unofficial ones), allows you to log in with your personal certificate, PIN code or permanent code to later access a lot of useful information .
- You can take your Spanish driver's license with you and drive around Spain with full validity. This is confirmed by the tweet that we show you in this article. The application allows you to see all the data on your official card as well as the permits you have, when they expire, etc.
- It allows you to know, in real time, the points you have on your Spanish driving license.
- In it you will also find all the information of those vehicles that are in your name, you will be able to consult things like:
- The documentation or technical sheet of all the vehicles in your name.
- The circulation permit of your vehicles.
- You will be able to find out if your vehicles are insured or have the ITVpass.
- You will have a section with QR codes that will allow you to demonstrate to law enforcement officers the veracity of the data indicated there.
The application works well and is very useful. On top of that, it automatically protects itself with your fingerprint so no one can access it. Although the DGT assures that it is completely legal, it reminds us that it is only officially valid in Spain. The DGT continues to recommend traveling with a driver's license in case we lose our mobile or go abroad. If you want to consult all the information you can always see the complete standard.
