Where is the Google Assistant I used to know
Table of contents:
If you are one of those who wake up with the Google Assistant routine or check the updates tab during the day, you will find that the interface you knew has disappeared. But don't be scared, it hasn't gone anywhere, it's just a radical change in its design.
The idea is that the user can see the most important data for his day without wasting time on irrelevant information. Let's take a look at some of the new features you'll find in the new Google Assistant interface.
Cards become protagonists
White is no longer the protagonist and now we see more colors that highlight the information that is essential for the user. And as you can see in the images they share on AP, the cards stand out more with the gray background.
And the event cards follow the same dynamics that we already know from Google Calendar. A combination of colors and allusive images.
Only relevant information and in chronological order
If we look at the current interface of the Google Assistant we find a lot of information after the famous “Have a nice day”. Traffic status, options to play news, make phone calls, send messages, set reminders, etc. After all these options, it just shows our upcoming events and the things of the day.
All that superfluous information disappears in the new design. Continuing with the dynamics of the cards we will see the weather, and then in chronological order all scheduled events are shown Simple and practical. It's like opening our personal agenda to organize the rest of the day or week.
An interesting detail is that all the cards are expandable. So at a glance we can see the information that interests us and if we want then spend a few seconds to expand the data of the card.
For example, the weather card only shows the weather conditions at the moment, but expanding the information we will see the forecast by hour or for the following days. In the case of events, the card has the link to the calendar where we schedule the event, related contacts, etc.
This new design is already spreading among users although Google has not commented on it. So pay attention that the next time you open the Google Assistant you may find these surprises.
