The new WhatsApp function will help you not to saturate your mobile with memes

It is inevitable, sometimes, to be part of groups of friends and family in the WhatsApp instant messaging application. In addition, in these places, not always frequented by people with whom we want to have contact, memes, videos tend to proliferate... in short, a large amount of multimedia content that ends up reducing the internal storage of our phone. It is true that the vast majority of phones today start with 64 GB of storage, but we are not willing to see how, little by little, it decreases with little jokes and dubious memes that do not provide us with anything relevant.
Prevent WhatsApp groups from filling up your mobile memory
WhatsApp is aware of this and, to correct it, it could be preparing a new function to alleviate this inconvenience. At the moment, this new feature appears in the beta versions of WhatsApp for the iOS operating system (version number 2.20.10.23/24) and for Android (2.19.275). This new function appears under the name of ‘Delete messages’ (delete messages) and is under development. Thanks to it, the latest messages sent in a WhatsApp group will be automatically deleted after a period of time determined by the user himself.
For example, imagine that you are in a WhatsApp group in which many memes and videos are sent and you do not want to deactivate the automatic download of them. Well, thanks to this new feature, messages sent an hour, a day, a month or a year ago will be automatically deleted from your phone mobile, without you having to worry about anything.
At the moment this function could only be enjoyed in the latest beta versions of the WhatsApp application for iOS and Android, with no date yet set for it to be officially deployed and we can all enjoy it. For now, there is a very simple way to prevent photos and videos from downloading automatically.
To do this, we have to go to the chat screen, three-point menu located at the top right and then settings. Within the settings, in 'Data and storage', we can adjust the automatic download, as explained in the attached screenshot.
