Google Maps continues to be, to this day, one of the best options for moving from one place to another without getting lost. And it is not only useful when we go by car: more and more we use it for our roads in the city where we live or when we travel. People with little sense of direction have received this navigation application like rain in May because, in addition, we no longer have to ask anyone where that street is that we have been looking for for hours. However, the star function of the application continues to be, of course, its GPS navigator to guide us while we drive. And we are going to talk about a new function with which to help our neighbor while we drive. Of course, always pay attention to the road.
How to report incidents on Google Maps
This new function, which is added to other incident comments that we can report while driving, consists of indicating in which places we have found a speed camera, one of those sensors that detect speed at the one we go to and they can send us a fine when we least expect it. To this new radar report we have to add another four that Google Maps has included to make our route much more comfortable and easier. But, before going into the matter, we are going to explain where we can find this function of incident reporting within the Google Maps application.
This function can only be used while we are navigating with the application in driving mode.To do this, first, we must have the Google Maps application installed on our mobiles. This application, as it belongs to the basic Google application package, is usually pre-installed in the Android terminals that we buy. But, if for whatever reason, you do not have it on your phone, you must install it from this link in the Google Play Store application store.
Once we have installed the application, we put the place we want to go to in the destination bar. Then click on the button at the bottom 'How to get there'. On the next screen we will choose the means of locomotion that we are going to use to get to the site. In this case, since we are going to go by car, we choose the car. Then click on 'Start'. The GPS navigator will begin to guide you to your destination, with voice prompts when you need to turn from one side to the other.
All incidents we can report on Maps
Before telling you where you have to record the reports, we advise you, above all, not to take your eyes off the road. Wait until you have to stop at a traffic light to report any incident. Distracted driving can be expensive and can endanger not only your life but also that of other passengers on the road.
Look at the bottom of the browser: you will see the time it will take to reach your destination, the time you will arrive and the kilometers you have left. Scroll this screen up with your finger and you will see several options, including ‘Add issue to map‘. Click on this section.
There are, in total, seven incidents that we can report thanks to this function of Google Maps. We can notify all these incidents thanks to Google Maps.
- Radars that we have seen on our trip, thus warning other users so that they are not fined. It is clear to note that we must always respect safety regulations, not only when there are speed cameras.
- Collisions, retentions and works: in short, accidents that we have seen and that may delay the journey of other users
- Lane Cut
- Disabled Vehicle
- Object on track
