Download this version of Gmail to enjoy the dark mode on Android
Table of contents:
The main Android apps are already getting dark mode. This feature comes thanks to Android 10. This recent version of Android allows a dark mode to be applied to the entire interface, which provides a much more elegant tone for users and a way to save more autonomy on OLED screens. Android apps have been updating with dark mode for months, but until now we haven't seen Gmail with a black interface. This is how you can activate the dark mode in the Gmail app for Android.
Google has already released an update with the possibility of applying dark mode and it is rolling out to users in stages, but it could take a few days to arrive. If you want to wait to try the dark mode you can download the APK from APK Mirror. You can do it from here. Then install it as if it were an application. Don't worry if you already have Gmail installed on your mobile, the system will detect it as an update and change the application for the new one.
Apply dark mode in the Gmail app
Once the new version is downloaded, enter the app and go to 'Settings' from the side menu and then tap on 'General'.If Google has already activated dark mode for you (it is done through the server and not through an update as such). The theme option will appear in the upper area and you can choose three options.
– Light Mode: The classic Gmail mode.
– Dark Mode: The new mode.
– Automatic mode: depending on whether you have dark mode activated or not.
Select the second option if you want to keep the dark mode and you will see how the colors of the interface change. It is not the same dark that we see in the system settings, since this is not a completely black. Therefore, it does not allow us to save autonomy as the OLED-friendly dark mode does. In any case, it provides a very interesting physical aspect to the terminal.
