So you can have the Spotify widget on Android again
About two weeks ago we woke up with the disconcerting news that Spotify, in a new update of its mobile application, had eliminated the widget option, that is, the possibility that we could place a small window to control the reproduction of what we were listening to without having to enter the application. A rather strange movement because, apparently, the widget did not leave to return with renewed strength but did so permanently.A pity, because a music playback widget can become the best of widgets.
What can we do now to get the Spotify widget back? Well, how could it be otherwise, go to the Google Play Store and download an update that gives it to us again. For now, and until Spotify allows it, the application that you can download for this is called Ubiquity Music Widget, a free application that is compatible with Android 4.4 onwards with a weight of only 513 KB so you can download it whenever you want , even with mobile data.
The first thing we have to do as soon as we open the application for the first time is to allow access to read our notifications. It is an essential step so that the name of the artist, song and even the album cover can be reflected in the widget. So, to do this you will have to press where it reads ‘Open Notification Access Settings‘.
A second screen will open in which we will activate the corresponding switch to said application. Here you can also see all the applications that have access to your notifications, if you see any that you suspect, remove the access.
Next we have to tell the widget which application we use to listen to music. Click on the next bar and choose from a long list of 'Spotify' applications Then we can continue configuring the widget to taste, such as making the artist or title bold song size and font size, or set all to upper or lower case.
When you have everything set up, go back (no need to save anything) and position the widget as always you've done. Then you'll have to resize it and that's it.
