How to mute the Google Assistant on Android
Table of contents:
Surely you've gotten used to asking the Google Assistant a lot of things on your Android phone. What if the time, if the weather, if you have an appointment, if you tell me a joke... But surely you have also come across situations in which conversations with this assistant can be uncomfortable or disrespectful, without finding the formula to silence it. Well, Google has gotten down to work to solve it.
The function has just been introduced for Android mobiles. It consists of silencing the voice responses of the Google Assistant In this way, the intelligent assistant continues to function as before, showing all the information that we ask for, but without offering it out loud. Without audible responses that read information from Wikipedia, list the current temperature or report any detail that is already reflected on the terminal screen.
Step by Step
To do it we just have to enter the Google Assistant by pressing the home button of our mobile for several seconds (the circle or the central button that returns us to the desktop). This invokes the assistant, although what interests us about it right now is its Settings menu.
To get to the configuration, display the wizard completely and click on the profile image on the top right. This takes you to Settings, although you'll have to focus on the Wizard tab to find what you're looking for.
Within the tab you will have to go down to the Devices with Assistant section, where there is Phone, which is what interests us here. Once inside the Google Assistant settings, scroll down now until you find the Recognition and voice input section.
This section is where the function is already available Voice output Thanks to this feature we can choose that the Google Assistant activate the default voice output, that is, to speak with your responses, or limit it to hands-free mode By selecting this second option, the assistant will no longer speak when invoked on mobile. Only when it is in hands-free use, such as if we connect it in the car.
From here the Google Assistant is mute on the mobile. Something that does not make you lose characteristics, just the possibility of expressing yourself and saying out loud everything that appears on your screen.
