New buttons arrive for Google Maps in Android Auto
The visual renewal of Android Auto has come with great expectations from drivers around the world. And it is that the redesign to carry all the main functions and applications of your mobile on the dashboard of the car helps a lot. But Google does not sit idly by. Despite having released this new design a few days ago for all users, there is still room for change and improvement for the applications that are displayed within Android Auto. This is the case of Google Maps, which adds practical buttons
Buttons that are now shown in the navigation interface. That is, while we are on the move, directed to our previously marked destination. These are tools that were already available in Google Maps, but that now appear on the main screen in Android Auto mode With them we can quickly change the route, search a new destination, view the current stop, and more.
So, from now on, when we're on our way, just below the road we're on, the next signpost and the approximate time of arrival, these new buttons will appear. Right next to the configuration one, which was the only one present to date. To its right, and in order, appears the button for alternative routes. Just by pressing it we can change the route without having to search for it among other Google Maps menus. This is the most notable feature of this redesign, as it makes things much easier.
There is also a magnifying glass button next to it to quickly perform a new search. Next to it is also the destination button, to quickly relocate it on the map. Finally, the fourth icon discovered in this small update is the three dots, with some extra functions collected here.
The only downside to this row of new on-screen buttons is that they can remove some information from the map while driving. Some users have already issued complaints, especially when new notifications are received. By overlapping, the buttons take away some visibility from a previously uncluttered area of the map and screen. But not everyone likes rain, and having an alternate route button can be very useful in traffic jams and caravans.
