Google launched, a little over 2 years ago, a new function that allowed direct messages to be sent through the platform. To this day it seems that this function is not used by too many people and the big G is about to eliminate it from its ranks. Sending messages on YouTube is not that it was one of the most used features, but it is true that it was useful for sharing videos with other YouTube users or even to talk to the creators.
It's not easy to send a big direct message to a creator (or at least get them to reply to you) for that reason direct messages are about to disappear from the platform.Google ensures that this function is not interesting for them and the main purpose, that of sharing videos, can continue to be done through messaging applications. This will also allow, in turn, to renew the interface of the application.
There will be no more direct messages on YouTube
Google already has a date, in fact in this publication we can see that it is an official change and notified by YouTube. The largest and most famous video platform will leave direct messages behind to share videos on September 18. From that moment on, no one will be able to use this function to share videos with people around them. This change may also be motivated by improvement in video comments If you can't share videos by private message it is possible for people to mention their friends in the comments of the videos themselves, accelerating and improving the social interaction between the community and improving the time spent on the network.
The possibility of sending videos to your contacts will continue to be available on the platform, although it will be a bit different:
- When you are in a video you can click on the arrow that you will find in the upper right part of the application.
- Instead of seeing the "Message on YouTube" option, you will directly see the options for "Share a link" and you can copy it to the clipboard to paste it into any app or directly select an app like WhatsApp or Facebook to share it with others.
Are you going to miss direct messages? Many don't even know they exist on the platform, we don't think people miss them much.
