Material Design arrived on Google's app store, the Play Store, a few months ago. And now, it's Material Design redesign turn for Play Store At the beginning of May some users began to see this new format and on August 1 the number of people who have it has increased exponentially. The new redesign of the Play Store is completely finished and many people have had access to it.
We explain what has changed in the new design and we will even leave you the instructions so you can activate it on your phone.
What's changing with the new Google Play Store redesign?
The biggest change, in the new Play Store interface, is the complete removal of the colors that had been common in the store. Now everything is completely white, there is no longer a trace of green for applications and games, red for movies or blue for books. Everything is completely white and the names of the applications and games are much clearer.
We've even gotten rid of the music drawer, which is no longer directly accessible as before. We will only see the Games, Applications, Movies and Books tabs by default, although we can find music using the search engine. There are also no nested tabs, which violated Material Design's design rules entirely.
Nested tabs have given way to sections at the bottom of the app.The top tabs, in the new design, will be used to categorize each section with: Categories, Editors' Picks, For You, Most Popular or even the classic tab of beta access. On the other hand, we continue to find the Google Sans font along with the new elements.
How to activate the new Google Play Store design?
And now the time has come. How do you activate the new design of the Google Play Store? Some time ago we left you a small tutorial on how to do it but that has changed a bit. The change seems to be activated via the server as of version 15.8.23 but we are going to recommend a little trick to get it activated sooner:
- Download the latest version from Google Play Store on APK Mirror.
- Once that is done, close the Play Store from the multitasking menu, go to Settings – Applications and look for it among the installed applications.
- Clear Play Store cache and the new layout should appear.
If for some reason you don't see the new design, give it a few hours or days, Google will activate it for you via server. If you have Android 9 Pie, the chances of it being activated will be even higher.
