When Android hit the market, it took Microsoft many years to realize that it shouldn't be competing, but trying to take advantage of what was already a system that had killed Windows Phone from its inception. It is for this reason that Microsoft took a long time to launch a mail client for Android but now the war is over. The Outlook client for Android and iPhone is very good We have been using it for a long time, even with other non-Microsoft accounts, and the truth is that it works like a charm .
In the following lines we would like to give you some tips that will let you get the most out of the Outlook app.
Add all your accounts
The Outlook client, like Gmail, is not just for adding all your @hotmail, @live or @outlook accounts. In this email manager you can add any account that you need just like in the others. Group all your accounts in a single application, you can check email comfortably from this manager, add alarms, add events to the calendar, etc.
Manage your emails by sliding your finger
Another thing that we really liked about Outlook is the facility that this email provides us to manage our email with the simple fact of swipe We can configure all these interactions in a simple way, even choosing what type of action we do depending on which side we scroll the mail to.
- Enter Outlook Settings.
- Select the option Swipe options.
- You'll see, just like in the picture, that you can change the default action for when you swipe to the right and also when you swipe to the left.
You have several options available, although the one that seems most useful to us is to delete (to delete all those emails that do not interest us at once) and also to archive. With proper use of filters and labels we can keep our mail organized without too much work. It should be mentioned that this is nothing new since Gmail also has it, but this app, unlike Google's, allows you to assign different options to the gesture that we cannot find in the Google application.
Create a custom signature
I'm sure you don't like that "Get Outlook for Android" thing, the signature that comes by default in the email manager Microsoft for mobile. The most normal thing, as soon as the application is installed, is to eliminate the Signature or add a personalized one.
- Enter Settings.
- Click on Signature.
- Write the message you want to be sent in all emails you send from the application.
Classic Signature messages like "Sent from my phone, sorry for the speed." and similar phrases are often widely used, although you can always use a much more original signature.
Disables Priority
If you don't have too many emails in your email, the automatic management of priority emails will not be useful at all, because it could be hiding important emails for you. Likewise, if you have your mail well filed and classified, this option will not be very useful for you either. You may or may not like Priority, but it tends to work very well for people who don't sort their mail.
We recommend turning them off in Settings, where it says Priority Inbox. If you keep the switch off it won't magically sort the emails and you'll see them all in your inbox.
Take advantage of the search engine
And last but not least, there is the search engine. You will notice that in the bottom center of the app there is a magnifying glass. The best way to search within email is to use it.It is not worth wasting time digging through the endless mailing list. Put the sender's words, a word you remember from the email or even the name of a file and the search engine will select everything it finds for you. It is very fast and intuitive, it is surprising that it allows us to directly access the files inside the emails.
We hope we have helped you with these keys to manage your mail. Do you have any tricks for Outlook that we are not using? You can mention it in the comments.
