Users of Apple devices are looking forward to the new versions of Apple's operating systems. Especially those who have an iPad, since the new iPadOS promises to be a revolution. Until now Apple had released only beta versions for developers. However, today we have learned that the public beta of iOS 13, iPadOS, macOS and tvOS is now available. To be able to install it, you must belong to the Apple Beta Software Program, but you do not need to be a developer. If you are wanting to install the latest version of Apple systems, we will explain how to do it.
How to install the iOS 13 public beta on your iPhone
The first thing we must do is sign up for the Apple Beta Software Program. To do this we must enter the official page of the program and click on “Sign Up”. We will identify ourselves with our Apple ID and the corresponding password. The Apple ID is the one we use to sign in to our iPhone, Mac, or iCloud account.
Once you have signed up for the program, installing the public beta on your device is very simple. For example, if we want to install the iOS 13 beta on our iPhone, we will only have to install a profile that accredits us as beta testers.
To do this we will have to, from the mobile, enter the page beta.apple.com/profile and download the configuration (it will do it automatically). Once downloaded, we will go to Settings and click on the profile to install it. We just have to follow the instructions.
When we already have installed the profile that identifies us as users of the betas program we will have to go to Settings – General – Software update to install iOS 13. That is, we will install the new version as if it were of any other updates.
The iOS 13 system is compatible with all iPhone models starting with iPhone 6s.
How to install the iPadOS public beta on your iPad
The process to install the new iPadOS on your iPad is identical to the one we followed with the iPhone. That is, we will enter the website beta.apple.com/profile from the iPad and install the profile.
When we have the profile installed, we only have to go to Settings – General – Software Update to install iPadOS.
The iPads compatible with the new operating system are all models starting with iPad Air 2.
How to install the macOS Catalina public beta on your Mac
Apple has also made the public beta of the new version of macOS available to users. To install it we will have to download the “macOS Public Beta Access Utility” application and follow the instructions.
Once the corresponding profile is installed, as in mobile devices, we only have to go to System Preferences – Software Update to install the new version of the operating system.
How to install the tvOS public beta on your Apple TV
Lastly, Apple has also launched the public beta of the new version of tvOS, the operating system used by Apple TV. To download it we will only have to be enrolled in the beta program with the same Apple ID that we use on Apple TV.
If so, on Apple TV itself we will go to Settings – System – Software Update and activate the option to use Beta Updates.
By activating this option, Apple TV will automatically receive the latest version of the operating system. If you do not, we will force the update manually from Update Software.
It is necessary to remember that, although they are public betas, they are still versions of the systems that are in the development phase. So we must take into account that they may contain errors. For this reason, the ideal is to make a backup copy of our system before updating. This applies to all devices
