Gmail's smart replies on Android is a big step up. By default, the email suggests a quick response linked to the conversation that we are having through the email thread in question. On some occasions they can save us a lot of time by not having to write. However, the Microsoft Mail app for Android did not have this option.
Suggested responses, called Outlook, have made it to the web version of Microsoft Mail last year but have not been available, until today, in the Outlook app for Android. In the latest update Microsoft has enabled this feature, after testing it for a long time on a limited number of users.
How to turn on and use suggested replies in the Outlook app for Android?
This new feature is enabled in the latest version of Outlook for Android, version 3.0.107 However, some users have been able to Also use it in previous versions, since the change seems to be activated through Microsoft servers and not directly from the application. You will find this function activated, usually, by default. In case you do not have it, you just have to perform these steps:
- Enter the Outlook for Android application and go to the Account Information section.
- Go to Settings and click on your email address.
- You'll see the “Suggested Answers” option and you can choose to enable it or not.
The Artificial Intelligence will use technology to send you automated responses, although they will only show up in some emails. Outlook will use this function when it detects that the mail is a conversation and not the typical automated mail sent by a machine. It is a very cool feature that has arrived this summer to catch up with its competitors. In this image we show you what these new suggested answers look like.
Outlook follows the slipstream of Gmail
Google's email application, Gmail, is years ahead of Microsoft's Outlook. In the past it was common to have a Microsoft email account but today few are those who do not use their Gmail address both personally and professionally.
