You just opened WhatsApp, you want to send a photo or a video and it keeps loading, for seconds, minutes and maybe hours . What's going on? Why does WhatsApp not allow you to send photos or videos? It can also happen that it allows you to send it but that the recipient does not receive it. If this happens to you, pay attention to the following lines. We are going to explain what could be happening and how to solve it.
There are several problems that may be affecting the sending of multimedia files in WhatsApp and it is important to distinguish between the different solutions that can be applied .
What do I do if I can't send photos or videos via WhatsApp?
First of all, check if the problems with WhatsApp are due to the speed of your Internet connection. Without adequate speed sending media files becomes very heavy for the phone and it is not capable of carrying it out.
Check your Internet connection
If you have finished the data and you are browsing at a reduced speed, you already have what the problem is. However, we are going to give you a small tutorial so that you can carry out a quick check of the connection that you are having at that moment. Even with unterminated data, you may not have good coverage and the network speed may not be enough.
- Enter Google.
- Search Speed Test.
- Use any of them to check your connection speed.
If the result of the upload test does not exceed 100 kb/s, you know where the problem is. A good connection, even with 3G, should exceed 1 mb/s in most countries.
Verify that WhatsApp is not failing
If you have verified that your connection allows you to navigate perfectly, the problem may be a different one and has nothing to do with your mobile. Sometimes the WhatsApp network goes down for hours and even days. This causes massive failures making messages work, at best, but not sending multimedia files.
To find out if WhatsApp is down, it's best to go to this page and see the level of failures. If the bug reports in the last few hours exceed thousands, then you know what the problem is.In the event that these reports remain within a margin of between 10 and 20, it is completely normal. That means the service is operating normally.
Twitter is also a good place to do it, visit the official WhatsApp profile on the social network and you will be able to find out about the operation or status of the WhatsApp servers.
Check the date and time on your phone
Next step, if WhatsApp does not fail and your phone's connection is fine, you will need to check if your phone's time and date are well synchronized. This, which may seem silly, is one of the failures that causes the most errors in all types of applications. When the time of a device that is connected to the Internet is not correctly set it makes the synchronization between the mobile and the server that is being accessed cause failures so big that prevent the connection.
Enter your phone's Settings – System (or Advanced Settings, depending on the mobile) and search for the Date and time settings Make sure that both the time and the date and region are correct. In case you are not able to set the time on your phone to its correct date you can uncheck the Set automatically box and change the time by hand. It will be a bit annoying because it will not link to your region but if this was the problem there you will find the solution.
Verify that you have available storage
If all of the above is OK. So, you have to move on to the two most drastic solutions. The first will be to check that the storage of the SD card or even the phone's own storage is in good condition. SD storage can prevent someone from receiving an image you've sent, thinking it's your problem when it's really the receiver's.
- Make sure there is space on your SD card. If it is full, WhatsApp cannot save files. If this is the problem, delete some files on the SD card to free up space.
- Make sure the SD card is not set to Read Only mode. If you've been having the problem for a long time, this could be the reason. A badly configured card does not allow files to be stored.
- If the card is damaged and there is space, it also could not work. Checking this is the most complicated, it is best to try another or format it (making a previous backup).
If you have all WhatsApp saved on the SD card, don't forget to make a backup of your WhatsApp and move the WhatsApp folder on the SD card to your phone's internal storage or to a PC.If you have chosen to format, do not forget to turn the phone off and on again, it should continue to work as it always did. This step is the most complex of all.
If you do not understand any of the indications that we leave you in these lines, leave us a comment and we will help you with the problem. The solution is easier than it seems, although if the SD card is completely damaged, the only way for our WhatsApp to receive multimedia again is by moving the storage to the internal memory or replacing the SD card.
If your mobile does not have a microSD but you have a very full memory this could also be the problem. If this is happening to you, delete files from your phone so that WhatsApp can work.
Clear WhatsApp cache
If, on the other hand, you have enough memory and WhatsApp can write to the phone, it may be a momentary failure, caused by one of the following things:
- WhatsApp is outdated. In this case, visit Google Play, search for WhatsApp and tap Update.
- WhatsApp has a problem and you need to clear the cache. Enter your phone Settings – Applications and search for WhatsApp. Once there, look for the option that says Storage and delete the cache.
- If none of this works, all you need to do is delete the application data or directly reinstall it.
After all of the above, it is practically impossible for WhatsApp to continue preventing the sending of files, photos or videos (unless it is down).
