If you have an old device with an outdated system version, be very careful because you could be left without WhatsApp as of July 1st. Both Android and iOS or Windows Phone will stop supporting the application in old versions. However, you can continue using it for a few more months until it stops working. In the case of Windows Phone until December 31, on Android or iOS until December 1 February 2020.
Devices ruled by Windows Phone will be the first to see WhatsApp come to an end.Starting July 1, the app will no longer be available for download in the Microsoft Store. However, if you are one of those who have a Windows Phone terminal with WhatsApp installed, you will be able to continue using it until December 31 of this year. After that date the app will stop working.
In addition, devices running iOS 7 or earlier or Android 2.3.7 (Gingerbread) or earlier will not be able to create new accounts or re-verify existing accounts after July 1. In the case of having WhatsApp installed, the app can continue to be used until February 1, 2020,the day on which it will stop working forever. Therefore, as of February 1, 2020, the messaging service will only be compatible with the following platforms:
- iPhone with iOS 8 or later.
- Android Ice Cream 4.0.3 or later.
- Some devices with KaiOS 2.5.1 or later, such as JioPhone and JioPhone 2.
