YouTube could use Augmented Reality for you to try on makeup
Imagine you are watching a makeup and beauty video showing a new lipstick. At that moment a button appears on the screen that says: try it. You press it, and you see an image of you with said cosmetic Sounds like science fiction right? Well, nothing is further from reality. YouTube is working on this concept so that users who are most interested in the products they see can try it out, as well as brands that can show them before selling them.A most amazing function, but still under development.
It was Android Police who discovered the work that YouTube's engineering team is carrying out on its application. At the moment these are only hidden tests for the end user, but in version 14.22 of YouTube for Android there is already code that gives clues about this function. And everything indicates that it is quite advanced.
As we said, and according to what was discovered by Android Police investigators, YouTube is working on including a “try” button in videos of beauty products. In this way, the application would activate the front camera and, with the consequent permission of the user, would recognize the user's face. Thanks to Augmented Reality technology, it would identify its lips and apply the corresponding test on them. That is to say, a lipstick previously programmed and coded by the user behind the video in question. And that's it. A virtual makeup test instantly, without accessing other websites or downloading beauty applications. All this directly in the video application.
At the moment the function is hidden and in development. And it is not surprising when learning about the advances of the Google company, owner of YouTube, on techniques of Augmented Reality and the application of lipstick effects. Something that he already showed at the beginning of this year in his official blog.
Now we just have to wait for official statements and see if this technology has a place on YouTube. Or even if it would expand to more themes and possibilities beyond lifestyle and beauty. Of course, having instant product tests, without complicated processes, can help youtubers and brands to sell their products, and make users of the platform of videos have a more immersive experience.Of course, for now we will have to wait to see how events unfold and how Google and YouTube exploit all this technology.
