How many times have you faced the problem of commenting second by second, verse by verse, of a song with a friend who is in the distance? And it is that applications like Spotify have different social options such as creating collaborative playlists, but it still has much more to offer. Proof of this is the new function that they are testing these days. It's called Social Listening or Escucha social, and it consists of creating playlists in real time. But not only that, it also gives power to other users to act as a DJ.
At the moment, as we say, it is in testing. And it is that the function is hidden in the code of the application. Or so researcher Jane Manchun Wong has discovered through reverse engineering techniques. Thanks to it we can know how the feature works or to the point that Spotify has developed it so far.
Spotify is working on Social Listening, letting friends to control music together with their own devices
Scan Spotify Code or open link for it to begin
For example, I'm listening to Spotify right now. Feel free to introduce me new music: https://t.co/f59D0sis7Y pic.twitter.com/nPOlcPwQdG

This is how Social Listening works
The idea is that a user creates a playlist and can allow their friends to participate in it.To do this they would only have to scan the QR code that would appear in the options of said list. An interesting ploy from a business and social point of view, as other people might be tempted to download the app and sign up for a Spotify account in order to do so. This allows everyone on the list to add songs in real time.
And be very careful because TechCrunch talks about the possibility of synchronizing music through each of the devices in the group of friends Something like connected speakers from brands like Samsung or Bose, but with mobile phones. Of course, at the moment, this feature is not present in the function, although it could arrive in the future. It's not really new and groundbreaking, but it will help Spotify stand out from competitors like YouTube Music, which lacks this and other social aspects.
At the moment Spotify has only confirmed that the platform constantly tests new features and functions. But he's not blunt about Social Listening. So we just have to wait and see if the feature extends beyond the employee version they are testing it on.
