Google removes YouTube Gaming

Google doesn't mess around when it comes to shutting down services it no longer needs. It was happening very recently with its failed, albeit promising, Google+ which, despite its interesting interface, did not catch on with users. The most recent change affects the 'YouTube Gaming' application, which will be closed permanently on May 30. In Google's own words, they have decided to cut their losses because it could cause confusion among video game fans. From now on, 'YouTube Gaming' can be found within the mother application, in a place specifically created to host videos showing live games from the most popular gamers.

Goodbye to YouTube Gaming

On the typical page that has Internet services enabled, in this case YouTube, they already warn us that as of May 31access to YouTube Gaming will have disappeared, indicating a link that we can access from now on. So we can see what the new YouTube game center is like, through which we can follow the live games of the best gamers. According to YouTube, this movement originated from numerous user comments. The main objective of the brand is to continue building a meeting place for gamers and its simplification is presented as an indissoluble component.

The separate YouTube Gaming app was launched five years ago. YouTube's main objective in launching a solo application for gamers responded to the need to create a place that was strong enough and consolidated that only paid attention to this field.Any content outside the world of videogames was outside its borders, also being the perfect breeding ground for some functions that would later make the leap to the mother application, such as the already so famous dark mode.
