The latest beta of WhatsApp for Android (2.19.151) has revealed a new functionality that could come soon to the app. It is about the possibility of storing contacts through a QR code. In this way, we can add new friends to our calendar at the click of a button. It should be noted that this option has been developed for several months for iOS, but up to now it has not been had left view in the Google system.
And how would this new feature work? From what it seems, it is something very simple, very similar to what can already be done in Facebook Messenger.Simply, when we want to exchange numbers for WhatsApp, we will have to show our new contact the QR code of the account so that they can add us to theirs. Our QR code will be displayed in the WhatsApp profile options. All you have to do is press so that the other mobile with WhatsApp can scan it and add us instantly.
Once this happens, it will be the same as if we had added the user with the traditional method. That is, we can write chats, make calls or video calls with our new contact. This is not the only functionality that is expected soon in the service. As we learned recently, Facebook would like to further unify its social platforms and would be working so that WhatsApp and Facebook states can be shared. In this way, it will be possible to create a WhatsApp Status and then share it with our Facebook account in the form of a Story. We will have to merge both user accounts, which may not be to the liking of many users who want to use the apps independently without linking.
At the moment, neither of these two options, nor QR codes nor sharing States with Facebook are available on WhatsApp, although they shouldn't take too long to arrive. The two are included in the code of the most recent beta of WhatsApp. We will be very attentive when it becomes official to inform you promptly.
