Now, GIFs are going to be the stars of your favorite gaming platform, Steam, thanks to a new update courtesy of its developer, Valve.

In less than a year, Valve was determined to enhance one of the functions that players appreciated the most: the possibility of communicating with each other via chat.Thus, they brought users new improvements in group chats and integrated media (GIF). A movement that tried to distance Steam from other similar platforms such as Discord, the main competition of that one.

Steam Chat is now available on Android and iOS

Today, as the main novelty, Steam Chat for mobile phones is announced. Valve has just announced that dedicated Steam Chat apps are available immediately on Android and iOS systems. This new mobile client will allow the user to see who is online, be able to add new contacts and Steam friends and chat, how could it be otherwise. The user will be able to chat with his fellow players, both in groups and personally. We can also modify notifications through the application's own settings.

Valve also ensures that very soon Steam Chat will receive an update thanks to which users will also be able to have voice chat . Undoubtedly, one of the options that was missing to have a good complete chat app.

You can now download Steam Chat from the official Google Play store and from the iOS App Store for iPhone. The Steam Chat app is free, of course, and lacks . Among other features, this is what we can find in Steam Chat:

• Friends List: At a glance, you can find out how many of your friends are currently online.
• You will have a favorites bar and personalized categories, just as you already have in the desktop application.
• A completely improved chat: you can send GIFs, videos, tweets, Steam emoticons and more.
• You can add new Steam contacts with just an invite link. You will be able to generate the link and then share it via email or text message.
• Customizable notifications. You can customize the notifications of the application either by user, group chat or conversation channel.
• In relation to group chats, thanks to these we can organize the games we want, having all your game partners in one place.

In general, the application is getting quite a few positive opinions, although it is pointed out that, obviously, there are still aspects in which it needs to improve. Some of these users claim the voice call to be able to organize group games from this same application.Let's hope that in future updates certain aspects will be polished and voice chat will arrive in order to have a complete conversation and game experience thanks to Steam Chat.
