Google Duo video calls grow to eight people
Table of contents:
It's going easy, but Google seems determined to eventually replace its Hangouts tool with Google Duo. Or at least it gives more and more capabilities to this latest video calling application. Little by little, although it still goes largely unnoticed, Google Duo is taking its first steps to become an interesting communication tool, at least for the personal. The latest novelty is increase the number of members to make a group video callNo more limiting it to four people.
At the moment the news has been released unofficially through Android Police, where they have echoed the news with their own tests. And it is that Google Duo began a month ago with group video calls in certain countries, but it seems a fact that its latest innovation is being launched worldwide these days. So no one is surprised to see how the limit of the four participants in the same video call is removed. Of course the limit is still there, though at 8 people Much less than Hangouts can handle.
Increasing the group size limit… ???♀️???????

Not too many surprises
As confirmed by Android Police, it was initially discovered that Google Duo had this number of participants in mind when it launched the feature of group video calls. This is demonstrated by the first tests of this function and the application code. However, and perhaps as a test, Google decided to limit the number of participants to avoid performance problems and polish possible bugs or malfunctions of the service.
Now everything seems to be working for Google Duo to be a much more complete and massive communication tool. An option that for the moment we have to wait for it to land in Spain. And it is that, apparently, the change or extension of the operation of video calls depends on the Google servers, without users being able to do anything about it to force this feature. No updates, no tricks, no worthwhile APK files.
What remains to be seen is whether Google Duo will be able to permeate society as Hangouts did in its day, which is still the best conferencing tool crowding between mobile users and computers.Of course, Google Duo has a predominantly social character, while Hangouts seems destined for the professional field. The only problem is if we want to gather a group of people larger than 8, although the resulting chicken coop can be less than communicative.
