Conversations through Instagram are increasingly common. Either to contact your favorite Instagrammers, to comment on any Instagram Story or, as has become a trend, to flirt through the photography social network. We are not here to judge anyone, but to give you keys to improve the Instagram Direct user experience, which is part of Instagram's private messaging. And to tell you that you can delete all those messages you send if you regret something said.
In case you didn't know, for quite some time, Instagram Direct allows you to delete messages from your group and individual conversations. Something very similar to what happens with WhatsApp. In this way, it is possible to cancel the sending, which is how Instagram calls the deletion of sent messages, so that the interlocutors do not see it. Or, if they have already seen it, they cannot capture it or read it again. Of course, unlike WhatsApp, on Instagram there is no any mark that a message has been deleted there In addition, there is no time limit when deleting a photo or message from the past.
How to cancel a message delivery on Instagram
Despite the particular name (unsend message), the function is only available when the message has obviously been sentAnd it consists rather in the deletion after sending. So keep in mind that the message could have been seen or read before it was deleted. Only the warning that the interlocutor has seen the last message will be able to give you this clue when deleting it.
To do so, simply make a long press on the message in question. This is how the contextual menu appears with the option to copy text and, the one that interests us the most here, “cancel sending the message”.
When you select this second option, Instagram displays an animation of how the selected message vanishes It disappears as if by magic. And, most importantly, without leaving any trace. Without a message notifying that a text or an image had been sent right there. Something that is most convenient when you want to forget something in a conversation.
Can I delete messages or photos on Instagram?
You can delete absolutely everything. Instagram does not discriminate content in its Direct section. That is, if what you are interested in is delete a photo sent, instead of a text message, you just have to repeat the process. In addition, in the case of being a photo or a video, the viewing alert will leave you with no doubt as to whether or not the content has been seen by the interlocutor. In other words, an extra in compromising situations or where privacy may be in jeopardy because of a video or a photo.
Just make a long press on the message that reads Photo or Video (or even audio message), depending on the content it is, and select Unsend Message from the pop-up menu.Again, the smoke animation appears as the message vanishes forever. Also without leaving any trace. Thus, if it was not seen by the interlocutor, it will never check its content.
Now, message sent notifications cannot be avoided So the interlocutors will have, at least, a clue that something has gone wrong sent, even if they later enter the conversation and everything is gone. And there is no perfect crime. Don't stop thinking twice about what you're about to send on Instagram Direct. It is not going to be that later you regret it and have to give explanations, even if the content is not shown anywhere.
