The controversial database was hosted on Amazon's web services and was exposed without any password protection. What does this mean? Well, anyone interested in taking a look at it could do so. The matter is serious: very serious. It contains more than 49 million records and the truth is that it is increasing every hour.

The leaked documentation contains a lot of valuable information. In each of the user records public data is included, extracted from the Instagram accounts of each influencer There is their biography, profile image, number of followers they have, if they are verified or not and their location: the city and the country.

But this is not all. In addition to these data, which are in principle public, private contact information is also included. That is, the email address and even the phone number of the account owner.

The leaked database has been discovered by security researcher Anurag Sen. He then alerted TechCrunch. They wanted to find the owner of the database and try to block access What they next discovered was that the database belonged to a network marketing company Members who pay influencers to post sponsored content.

The database in question calculated the value of each account, based on a series of data, such as the number of followers, likes, and overall account performance. The fact is that information has been found there from a good number of influential people, such as food bloggers, celebrities and regulars on social networks with many followers .

Those responsible for the database would have already taken it offline. However, the founder of the responsible company, which is Pranay Swarup, has not offered any explanation in this regard. They would not have clarified how they got the email accounts electronic.

This is not the only leak that has occurred within Instagram. Just two years ago, the same company acknowledged that there had been a security flaw in its API for developers.
