Snapchat Stories have not only served to make Facebook's reign bigger and bigger. It seems that many services that at first are not candidates for having Stories also want to have their own. Spotify is already playing with them in one of its latest beta versions, although their function is a bit different. The Spotify Stories is a feature called Storyline and is designed to allow artists to share their greatest hits, moments of inspiration or details about their music.
The feature is very similar to Spotify's Behind the Lyrics feature. Unlike this, the new Spotify Storyline is loaded at the top of the application with an experience that reminds us of the Stories of other applications such as Instagram or Snapchat. This feature may replace Behind the Lyrics in the future.
Spotify Stories are here to stay, despite being in the testing phase
Unlike the Behind the Lyrics function, this new option appears on top of the application and wants to offer more precision when displaying artist content. Well, in the first there were serious flaws with certain interpretations. Currently Storyline is already being tested on iOS and also on Android, although not on the desktop version of Spotify.
The function is currently being tested only in the U.S. region It is a matter of time before it also reaches Spain and other regions . If you are a beta tester you will see an indicator at the top of the screen that will notify you of the existence of additional content. If you swipe you will see the content of the Stories that can contain letters, text and even images.
We know that currently artists cannot control what is shown in the Storyline The function works automatically with an algorithm advanced, although in the future the possibility of it appearing on the artists' dashboard is being considered. Spotify Stories wants artists to launch original content on the platform itself to get closer to the youngest, familiar with this feature.
Spotify has not given much information about the new Stories but has confirmed that it is working on them to improve user interaction as and as TechCrunch states. We hope to test them soon and see if the feature catches on or a double-edged sword for the platform.
