How to convert WhatsApp audio into an MP3 file
Table of contents:
We have replaced making a phone call with sending WhatsApp audios. It is increasingly common to receive one of these audios, sometimes even lasting several minutes, which simply and free of charge replace the usual telephone calls. There are times when we need to convert WhatsApp audio to a format that can be compatible with other playback media. We are not going to assess why you would need to share WhatsApp audio outside of the application, but in an original way it is impossible. In other words, you can share it but it cannot be heard, since WhatsApp audios have their own file extension, called 'Opus'.
Convert WhatsApp audio files into MP3 files thanks to this free app
A very simple tool to convert 'OPUS' files, that is, WhatsApp audio files, into MP3 files, ready to be played in any audio and music application, is 'OPUS to MP3' , an application that we can find in the Google Play Store, totally free, although it contains ads and purchases inside. Its weight is less than 10 MB so you can download it and try it whenever you want without having to be connected to the WiFi network.
The first thing we have to do when opening the application 'Opus to MP3' is to give it permission to access your multimedia files, operation essential because, in this way, the app will be able to examine the interior of your phone to 'extract' the WhatsApp audios and convert them to MP3.On the main screen we will get everything we need to convert our WhatsApp audios.
To complete the operation, we must click on the first option that appears, 'Select OPUS file'. Clicking on this option will open a new pop-up window in which we will have to choose between the 'file explorer' or the 'gallery'. We recommend pressing the first option of all.
Next we must look for the folder where all the WhatsApp audios we receive are automatically saved. The path to follow is 'WhatsApp' folder, 'Media' folder and, finally, 'WhatsApp Voice Notes'. In this folder we will find the WhatsApp audios in folders whose name refers to the day of registration of said voice notes, as it appears in the screenshot.
Next, we must choose the voice note that we want to convert from OPUS to MP3.
As soon as we have selected the audio clip we want to convert, the first home screen will appear again, having, this time, to select 'Convert to MP3 '. In the pop-up window that appears below we are going to give the voice note a title and select where we want the MP3 clip to be saved.
You will see, at that moment, how the operation is carried out until it is finished, being able to then perform three operations:
- Play the audio note, examining if this was the audio note we wanted to convert.
- Trash can icon, to delete the MP3 audio note
- Share the audio note, which is, after all, what we have converted the OPUS note into MP3 for.
The 'OPUS to MP3' application, as you have seen, is very easy to use and has the option of removing ads, upon payment of 2, 70 euros .
