Those who use WhatsApp mods like WhatsApp Plus or GBWhatsApp are just trying to get extra features that the official app doesn't offer like change color, hide the last connection time, among other things. WhatsApp knows this but ensures that users are exposing their privacy and compromising the ecosystem of the messaging client by using these applications.
Many bans have been reported through Twitter in the last few hours. These bans last longer and longer when someone is repeat offender in the use of third-party applications. Many users receive a first ban of 20 minutes, then 40 minutes and so on until the account is permanently closed. There have been very few cases of permanent bans for using third-party applications on WhatsApp, but if it continues like this, it may become commonplace.

Unlike Telegram, WhatsApp is not a free application that allows the use of modified applications. WhatsApp only has one official client and it is the only one authorized by Facebook to communicate through its system. Any external client can put our security and even that of our contacts at risk.
