Google Photos tests a new tab to print your photos
Table of contents:
If you're an advanced Android user you probably know that Google enjoys experimenting with user interface changes through random consumers (the same as Facebook does). Sometimes these features are released to stay and other times, they are not liked very much. One of the latest changes seen via Twitter is a new tab in the main Google Photos interface called Print.
This new Print section is only available to some users and the truth is that few have wondered why. When we saw it, we came to think that it would be a new tab with which to access the printing of photos through Cloud Print (which would not make much sense) but it is nothing more than a direct access to a feature that has been in use for a long time. Google Photos, Photo Books.
What are Google Photos Photo Books used for?
The Photo Books have long arrived in Google Photos and are available from the app's menu. It seems that, with this small change in the interface, Google seeks to give more visibility to a feature that is not widely used by consumers. We are convinced that the option has gone completely unnoticed by most users.
With Google Photos Photo Books what we can do is create a Photo Book by selecting some of our snapshots to receive it in home with all printed in a high quality format. The books come in different sizes at very different prices.
Price of Photo Books
Currently, until April 29, the delivery of books is completely free for users within the European Union. The price of the books is this:
- 12, 99€ – A 7-inch square softcover book with 20 photos. For each additional page that we want to add we will have to pay €0.49.
- 22, 99€ – A 9-inch square hardcover book with 20 photos. For each additional page that we want to add we will have to pay €0.69.
We have not been able to test this new print tab but many users have uploaded their photos to Twitter with this feature. This is a very good option for those who want to have their photos in a more traditional, high-quality format. Will it compete with other platforms that offer similar results at more competitive prices?
