How to avoid Game of Thrones spoilers on Twitter and Instagram
Table of contents:
Winter is coming! We have not gone mad. Winter has reached all homes in the form of a television series that has become, over time, a mass phenomenon, 'Game of Thrones'. And, with it, the competition among Internet users to see who writes the spoiler with the earliest riser to annoy the experience of the rest of the viewers who, having a life to attend to, cannot stay at three in the morning to watch the episode in real time. .And we already know that the stay, these days, in social networks can be complicated, especially for those who want to remain virgins until they can see the corresponding episode.
Social networks, fortunately, allow you to silence and block certain phrases, words and hashtags so that any spoiler is automatically blocked. We are going to teach you to avoid, to a large extent, the spoilers of 'Game of Thrones' in two very popular social networks, Twitter and Instagram. We do not guarantee that you will avoid each and every one of the comments that are made about the Game of Thrones episodes, but the vast majority of them do. And you can, at the same time, continue using Twitter and Instagram as always.
How to mute words on Twitter in the mobile app
The first thing we are going to do is open our Twitter application and click on the icon of our profile picture, activating the configuration side menu of the application. Here we are going to click on 'Settings and privacy' and, then, click on 'Privacy and security'
On the next screen, look for the 'Security' section and, within it, 'Silenced words'. Press the '+' icon and we are placing the words related to the series that we have to silence. You can place a hashtag symbol first so that the application automatically suggests the current trending topics. For my part, I have muted the following words and hashtags to avoid spoilers for 'Game of Thrones'.
- Game of Thrones
- BranStark
- JonSnow
- The beginning of the end
- ForTheThrone
- GameOfThornes
- GameOfThronesSeason8
- GoT
- GoTS8
- got
- Game of Thrones
You can set the time that that word or hasgtag will be muted, including asking the app to mute them in the timeline and in notifications.
Restart the Twitter application and now you won't see any tweets with those words, phrases or hashtags. If you come across a spam tweet, write down the keywords and go through the process again.
How to mute words on Instagram in the mobile app
Now we are going with the same process but in the Instagram mobile application. To silence words, the itinerary that we have to follow is a little more complex than in the case of Twitter. Follow the steps carefully and you will have no problem doing it.
First, we enter the Instagram settings menu by entering our main screen, then the three-line menu on the top right and, finally, 'Settings'.
Within this screen we go to 'Privacy and Security' and from here to 'Comment Controls'. In this last screen we are going to go to the 'Manual filter' section, activate the switch and write the words and phrases, separated by commas, that we want to filter. In this way, no comment is going to ruin the experience of watching the last season of 'Game of Thrones'.
