Where to find each series and movie in streaming
Table of contents:
Today, finding a series or movie within the numerous streaming platforms that we can hire can be quite a job. Amazon Prime, HBO, Netflix, Movistar+ series and movie packages, lesser-known platforms such as Mubi or Filmin, Google Play or Rakuten rental services... too much variety to know, at all times, what is released on each platform and where is (if it is) that movie that we want to see so much.If you only have Netflix contracted, this may not be too much of a problem for you, but if you find yourself in my case that you can access all the platforms, finding something can be a bit uphill.
Of course, in the Google Play application store we are going to find a tool that will help us to have well located that movie or series that we want to see and we don't know where it is. It's called 'JustWatch' and it can be obtained totally free, without ads or purchases inside, and it weighs only 14 MB so you can download it to try it whenever you want. Below we will tell you in depth how JustWatch works so that you can get the most out of it.
JustWatch, this is how this streaming movie and series search engine works
As soon as you open JustWatch for the first time, the application will detect the country in which you are. In my case, I find Spain first, and if I want to change, I can choose a country from the list below.Since this is not the case, I press the arrow to continue. Subsequently, the application asks you how many times you have gone to the cinema in the last year, something that I don't really know what it's for. The screen below does have a real utility, and that is that we are going to select the providers to which we are subscribed, so that the appropriate information appears. We have the providers classified into two groups, 'Stream' and 'Rent and buy'. Click on 'Continue'. On the screen below, press 'Done'.
The main screen of the application is divided into five main parts. From top to bottom we will find:
- Search magnifying glass and three-point menu. In this part we are going to search for any movie, program, documentary or series that we want to find on streaming platforms. In the three-point menu we are going to enter the application settings, a place we will return to at the end of this special.
- Category tabs where we can find the main news that have reached the different platforms, a tab dedicated to the series, the movies, the drop in rental content prices (something I don't usually use much) and a 'watchlist' where we can save the content we want to see. To synchronize the personal list we must get our own account, also free.
- Provider icons. These icons serve as on/off toggles for filtering content. If you only want to show, for example, what's new on Netflix, you'll have to 'turn off' the rest of the switches.
- Content tabs. A practical advanced search filter where we can choose the year the film or series was released, the rating in IMDb or Rotten Tomatoes, the rental price of the product, genres and playback quality. If you press the 'X' icon you will delete all the search filters and you will be able to make a new one.
- Content Tile. This section deserves a separate point that we will develop below.
Search for your favorite series or movie on JustWatch
The central part of the JustWatch application shows all the content displayed according to the provider and the search filters that you have applied in the corresponding section. If we click inside each poster we will find all the information we need, such as how many seasons the series has, its episodes and, of course, where we can see it, in the 'Stream' section. We also have a practical section that includes its trailer extracted from YouTube.
In the case of movies we will also find the place where we can see it, being able to access through the platform icon the same to see the content on the mobile, as well as related content that might interest you and a complete synopsis of it. This screen is shown as if it were a time line, that is, if the user lowers the screen, they will be able to find the premieres of previous days.
If we search for a series, movie, or any other type of content and no results appear in the tab 'Stream' it is that said content is not in the providers you have marked. Try other providers to see if they have it available elsewhere.
JustWatch App Settings
At the top of the screen we have, next to the search magnifying glass, a menu with three points through which we will access the complete configurationof the application.
- First of all we can change our country and customize the providers to which we are subscribed. It may be that throughout the use of this application you subscribe or delete the account in some streaming platform and need to update the application.
- Here we can create an account to have synchronized our list of upcoming viewings on different devices. We can create it by connecting it with Facebook or Google. So, if you open JustWatch in your Internet browser on your computer, you can still see your lists.
- Finally, we have a special section where we can learn a little more about this application as well as a frequently asked questions section .
