HTC apps disappear from Google Play Store
Table of contents:
Are you one of the few left with an HTC mobile in your hands? In recent years, the Taiwanese brand has begun to go more than unnoticed with its terminals. Something very different from the beginnings of the Android platform boom, when HTC mobiles were a reference in power and quality However, you have to renew or die. And it seems that is what you are doing with your own applications. So, if you are looking to update any application on your HTC mobile or simply find the different calendar, contact, alarm or document management tools in the Google Play Store, I'm afraid that you won't find them
HTC has not given any reason in this regard, but websites like Android Police have already echoed the situation. And it is that a quick search for any of these applications, or the use of web pages that app stores monitor, serve to discover the absence of many of them. Some, such as correo (Mail), had already suffered comings and goings. However, now it doesn't appear anywhere along with others that were always available in the Google Play Store.
The situation is peculiar precisely because many of these applications are stock That is, they arrive pre-installed directly inside HTC terminals. And having them in the Google Play Store is a safe, direct and comfortable way to launch any type of update, improvement or novelty.Of course, if we look at the update frequency of these tools, we will also be surprised. And it seems that HTC takes time without worrying about these tools. Months without updates that show that there is no one pulling the bandwagon of their applications.
HTC apps that have disappeared
If we take a look at the recent activity of HTC developer in the Google Play Store, it is possible to see how the disappearance process has been going on for a couple of months. In fact, this same month of April is when the contacts application and the launcher have disappeared.
Already last February, the Google Play Store said goodbye to the HTC video player, the calendar, the HTC Dot view application, the mail tool, the app HTC Speak, HTC Car and HTC Ice View.
Of course, for the moment there are many other applications and services available on the HTC Corporation page in the Google Play Store. We will have to see if it is a final goodbye or if there is a new project in the making.
HTC heading its way to Android One?
Now, this whole situation could have a logical explanation (in the absence of official communication from HTC). In fact, providing support to applications with a very small number of users involves an effort and an expense that the Taiwanese manufacturer does not seem willing to face. Something logical if they do not want to worsen their situation as a company. For this reason, these tools would have been forgotten in the Google Play Store. But then why make them disappear completely?
The other explanation, by way of supposition, given in Android Police is the possible redirection of the manufacturer towards the Android One range. That is, an operating system that works especially well with low-end devices, which do not have powerful processing resources. In this way, they would not need to have applications with basic functions such as mail, its launcher, its video player and many other tools and functions that already come as standard in Android. Of course, for now, these are just assumptions
