WhatsApp continues to be updated day after day to finally become the instant messaging application that all users deserve. Yesterday we gave a good account of the new dark mode, of which we finally have images of what it looks like in the iOS operating system. Today we have new news that directly affects the security section of the application: the new fingerprint security function.
This is what the new fingerprint security feature looks like in WhatsApp
In the update number 2.19.82 of the WhatsApp beta program, in addition to finding the news about the new dark mode, WhatsApp has revealed new aspects about the fingerprint security function regarding the user experience. This is a great improvement in every way that, unfortunately, we users still cannot enjoy. Among the novelties of the fingerprint security system in WhatsApp we find:
A new screen is displayed every time you log in to your WhatsApp account, as shown in the following screenshot, courtesy of the WABetaInfo leak site. Depending on the security settings you have in the messaging application this will be the screen that is displayed every time you enter it.
Where will we find the option to activate this new fingerprint security system? We must remember that it is not yet available for users, both iOS and Android, but when it appears, we will find it within the three-point menu in the main chat window, settings, then account and finally, privacy
When you activate the 'Use fingerprint to unlock' option (translated in the Spanish version of the application) the system will ask you to place your fingerso that the fingerprint is registered correctly, as it appears in the following screenshot.
Once we have registered the fingerprint, we are going to tell the application when the fingerprint lock will be activated, automatically, if the terminal is locked once, when 1 minute, 10 minutes and half an hour pass.
When the application is unable to recognize the fingerprint that the user is placing to unlock it, it throws the user an error screen that lights up So.
How to join the WhatsApp beta group
There is still no release date for this new security configuration in WhatsApp, something that many users will appreciate due to the sensitive information that is usually found in this type of application. However, it should be noted that before it is released to the public, this feature will appear in beta versions of the application. And you can be part of the WhatsApp beta group. Do you want to know how? It is very simple, you just have to follow the following steps.
The first thing we are going to do is uninstall the official WhatsApp application that we have right now on our mobile. We need to uninstall it because, when we enter the beta group, we will need to download a different one.
Then we go to the WhatsApp beta community web page.
As we see in the previous screenshot, we are going to click on ‘Become a tester‘ to enter this community. A screen will then appear with all the instructions you must follow.
Finally, we go to the Google app store and download WhatsApp beta version.
