How to avoid spam calls with the Google Phone app
Phone spam is one of the great evils of the 21st century. Every day we have to deal with various unknown numbers that are filtered as calls interrupting our peace of mind. From Google they work to fight this plague. Until now, the Android Phone application allows you to block specific numbers or filter spam calls automatically. From now on, you can also establish other types of more extensive filters. For example, numbers that are not among our contacts, those that come from booths, as well as private and unknown numbers.
Some users have started to see a new feature in the Google Phone app. Instead of having a single option to filter spam calls, you will now be able to choose from four different categories. These are.
- Numbers that are not in contacts. All calls from phone numbers that are not stored in the phonebook can be blocked.
- Private numbers. All calls in which the number has been hidden can be blocked.
- Phone booths. Calls made from telephone booths may be blocked.
- A stranger. Unidentified calls can be blocked.
It is currently unknown when these new features against phone spam will be activated for everyone in the phone application. It has been seen in the beta version of Android Q, so it could arrive with the final version of the platform, which is expected during the third quarter of 2019. Now, to fight against phone spam, we only have a single filter, available since last year on all Android-powered mobile phones.
It can be accessed by tapping on the three vertical dots within the Android Phone app. This is a function called Number Filter. From there we can block incoming calls, unknown or hidden numbers. It is also possible from this section to block messages from unknown numbers.
