Google Drive for mobile is about to receive an interface similar to the one Gmail adopted a few days ago. Google's cloud storage service has been using the Material Design-based interface for a long time, but this re-adaptation makes it much easier to use the app on mobile phones with small screens.
Google Drive, both for iOS and Android, will receive this new interface that adopts the home window of the web versionAt this time the folders are no longer so important, and the files are shown first as soon as the application is opened. It is a change that is focused on what we are doing, and puts everything much more at hand.
What does this new Google Drive design allow us to do?
The decision to adopt this change is based on several important factors. Well, in the past, editing or deleting a file was more difficult. This way you'll see recent files, those that are being shared, etc. In addition to this change, now the navigation bar is much more intuitive and allows us to easily switch between Home, Shared files, File sections, etc. In other words, we can navigate more easily between the different parts of the application.
As for Team Drives, this tab is now displayed much closer to My Drive, in the files section. You will also see a PCs section on the other side of My Drives if you have any PCs of yours backed up on the service. Finally, we only need to mention the new actions menu within the application In this new version we will have the most used actions at the beginning of the options.
When can we try the new Google Drive design?
This new Google Drive design will be available to all users on both iOS and Android. The disembarkation will start on different days depending on the system:
- Android – As of March 18 it will begin to arrive on Android and it could take up to 15 days to complete its expansion throughout of the globe.
- iOS – The iOS version will be released starting March 12, and it will take up to 15 days to reach all users .
No action is required, just update the app from Google Play or App Store and soon you will see the new interface on your phone.
