The future is changing. Hyundai Motor Group knows this and has just announced the development of a new digital key that will allow users to open their car using a smartphone. Instead of having a physical key, owners of a Hyundai or a Kia, will be able to use an app to unlock the car. The advantages of this digital key are clear, as there will be 4 people who may be authorized to use the car. The application will use NFC technology.
The driver's and passenger's doors will be equipped with NFC technology so that, bringing the mobile closer, we can open the car.And then, to start the car, it will be necessary to place the mobile on a wireless charging pad and press the start button.
Useful technology, forget about losing your keys!
The vehicle will memorize the preferences of each user, and the settings will be configured automatically. In other words, a user can have the mirrors, seat and steering wheel adapted to their needs. As well as the audio, video, navigation system and the display screen. Forget about selecting the memorized position, the car does it for you.
This new digital key will be available for some models, and using via Bluetooth technology, users will also be able to lock or unlock the vehicle, activate the alarm and even start the engine. This feature is expected to work remotely when the cars are autonomous. The possibilities are enormous, we can establish a temporary permit for a delivery person to leave a package in the trunk, for example.
A new method of car sharing
Imagine a rental company. The landlord may grant ownership to the tenant through an app, without having to establish contact with him. These vehicles will also have conventional and card-type smart keys, especially for those places where the digital key does not work, such as in our workshop.
Hyundai says it will implement this technology gradually starting this year. We cannot ignore the fact that NFC technology is really useful and safe, the same one we use for mobile payments. When this new option is integrated into their cars, more possible ways to optimize vehicle sharing will have to be seen.
