Thousands of people wonder what happens to a Facebook when someone dies. Well, Facebook is working on a new section for the platform that will allow you to leave comments on profiles once the owners pass away. This feature, called Tributes or Tributes, will allow people to leave messages in this section, separate from the profile itself.
Depending on the privacy settings of a deceased user's account, friends will still be able to post to the profile and even comment on posts that were made before they died. However, if an account has the Tributes section activated, posts made after the day of death will be placed only in this section. This will help to separate the Facebook in life from what happens after.
Tributes, the Facebook section to comment on a profile of a deceased person
This section is already included in the Facebook Help Center and is described as a space in commemorative profiles where friends and family can post stories, remember a birthday, share memories and more. . legacy contacts will be able to decide whether or not an account has a Tributes section. They will receive a notification on their profile if they already control an account.
Legacy Contacts will be vital to this role, as they will have a lot of leeway for Tributes. These contacts will be able to decide who can see and post a tribute and even delete posts they don't want to have there. On top of that, a legacy contact can also change who sees the posts the deceased person is tagged in and will even be able to remove tags if desired.
If an account has time checking turned on, the legacy contact will be able to turn it off for tribute posts. Remember that everything published in this new section will be separated from the wall of the user in question. Facebook says it will do its best to separate tributes from posts on a user profile However, legacy contacts will still be unable to read private messages or delete or add friends.
