When you handle important documents on a daily basis, you should let that little voice in your head come out that tells you to back up everything importantbefore a misfortune occurs. And with important documents we are not referring only to work or professional files, or documents that do not have a physical copy. We also refer to photographs and videos of a personal nature that reflect moments that will not be repeated.Elements that, in one way or another, are worth safeguarding. Just in case.
Now that this little voice has made a name for itself, you have to know that there are many options, platforms and ways to make backup copies. You can manually copy and paste these files to an external hard drive that you keep safe, for example, or transfer it to a flash drive. Or you can even rip it to CD, even though the format is getting old. But the most interesting option is offered by the Internet. The so-called cloud A space that can be accessed from any computer or mobile device, and therefore gives the option of recovering all these files at any time and place.
As we say, there are different options such as Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox and other services with similar functions. Now, if you want to forget about doing it manually, you also need a program that automates the copying of these files from your computer to the cloud of your choice periodically. The ideal way to forget about the process without neglecting these important documents. There are also several options for this, being Nero BackItUp one of the most interesting thanks to its programming options.
This is a service hosted within the Nero Platimum 2019 suite of tools (it can be purchased separately for a price of 40 euros ), which is updated in 2019 to offer functions such as taking these copies to the cloud. All this being able to automate the processes and program them for our domestic or professional use. Wow, we can say when, how and what we want to take to the cloud so that it is stored there and accessible from other devices. All this in three steps so we don't have to remember it anymore.
Choose where to make your backup copy
The first thing to do is to start Nero BackItUp and click on the “make backup copy now” option to configure the backup destination.Of course, in this case we will click on the online backup option to be able to choose between Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive These are the two services available for automation that offers Nero. So, if you have an account in any of them, choose your favorite one, enter your credentials and give the necessary permissions to carry out the entire process. And here the first step.
Choose the files to save
Now it's the turn of the source folder of the files you want to put away. Nero BackItUp has two different options. An automatic, capable of detecting all the files on the computer and organizing them by simple folders such as Photos, Videos, Documents and Music, or a manual option so you can choose the folders you want in detail.
The first option is useful if you use a work computer with just the right files. This way you won't fill your space in the cloud with documents or photos that you don't want to save. It also automates the entire process so you can forget about it. Very useful for beginners, but maybe not very specific if your computer has a lot of content. So choose wisely to avoid cloud storage or organization problems.
Choose backup frequency
The next step in Nero BackItUp is to choose how often you want to update this backup. Something really useful to make sure you don't lose work or important personal content. Or, at least, minimize the damage if the save frequency is quite high, being able to lose only a few days of work and not all the progress, for example.
Nero BackItUp offers several frequency options. You can create and upload these backups to the cloud on a monthly, weekly, daily, or constantly basis. Of course, there is also a manual mode to do it only when you want.
