Instagram tests direct messages through the computer
Instagram has just reported that it is conducting tests to improve its web application for computers. From now on, the user will be able to send and receive direct messages using Instagram through their computer, without the mobile application mediating in any way. It was the reverse engineering expert Jane Manchun Wong who, through her personal Twitter account, raised the 'alarm voice'. She appeared in her message shortly after Zuckerberg and company announced their intention to unify all their messaging applications.

Until now, the function of sending direct messages was exclusive to Android and iOS applications. One of the great assets that Zuckerberg could have to encourage, even more, the use of Instagram is by encouraging the exchange of messages on any device, be it mobile, tablet or computer. Given the Zuckerberg emporium's plan to unify messaging platforms, it was a matter of time before Instagram had its own option on PC. Facebook Messenger began its journey, first, on the computer; WhatsApp appeared, relatively recently, on computers with a replica of its application; It was, therefore, a matter of time before Instagram had its own messaging section on PCs around the world. We already have, then, the perfect panorama so that we can send chats between the different applications of the billionaire Mark Zuckerberg.
At the moment, this new function is only available, as an internal test, for the engineers and developers of the application themselves. It is speculated that, if this new Instagram movement is consolidated and successful, it could be emulated for the Facebook Messenger application. That is, have a different page on the web to send and receive messages In the Instagram application, we send and receive messages through the icon of a paper airplane . This will be different on the web, as we will access messages with a different URL than the original Instagram one.
The Instagram app for the web is still very crude. We can't upload photos from our computer unless we make changes to the page script, we can't post stories like we can on the Facebook page.Instagram does not usually make statements about its internal tests. However, they have contacted TechChrunch, the original source of the information, to confirm that yes, they are testing so that users can send and receive direct messages from their computers. For the moment, they have cut off any access to the function, after the infiltration of the aforementioned Jane Wong.
As TechCrunch continues to report, the steps to fully imitate Snapchat are ongoing. If first it was the Stories and, later, the IGTV video function, with which it also went head-to-head on YouTube, now it is focusing on its new messaging function for computers. With this function, Zuckerberg does not see any income but if we think about it... what can be done better than browsing Instagram or Facebook itself while we wait for our interlocutor to contact us and reply to the message?
