YouTube starts recommending videos for download
Currently, more than 150 countries around the world are eligible to download videos on YouTube. For a monthly subscription, the user can download videos in Full HD quality and then be able to watch them on the street (or wherever they want) without spending a single bit of data of your fee. Five years ago YouTube began to deploy this new function that allowed the download of the videos hosted on its page.
Now, a reader of the Android Police information page, @JazliAziz has just shared some screenshots in which we can see how a new section has appeared within the YouTube application in which the platform invites you to download certain videos.Videos that, of course, were especially recommended for him. In this way, it follows the path of other applications such as Netflix, which has its own download recommendation section... although this function has not yet reached the application we have on Android.
As we can see in the screenshot above, within the downloads section the application now also recommends videos that may interest us, based on our playback history. The fact that these videos appear in the Downloads section does not mean that they have been downloaded automatically, causing users to lose data. They are only suggestions.
It seems that Google has already made this new recommendations section official. The only thing we don't know yet is if we will all have access to it or only YouTube Premium subscribers. Thanks to YouTube Premium you will have, for a fee of 12 euros per month, access to the music service YouTube Music, similar in shape and substance to Spotify, and videos without ads, with downloads and original YouTube content like Netflix.
According to Google's statement giving veracity to this new recommendation option, it can be disabled within the application settings. The user who does not want to receive them will have to go to the YouTube Settings section, Backgrounds and downloads and 'Recommended downloads'. Obviously, these videos will not spend data when you play them if you have downloaded them before being connected to a WiFi network.
