WhatsApp no longer allows you to spy on the states of other contacts without notifying them
Table of contents:
Until now, being able to see WhatsApp States without their creator knowing it was relatively simple. It was enough to deactivate the reading confirmations of the messages, that is, the typical and well-known blue check. This will continue to work until now... except if you re-enable the read receipt for messages. In this case, WhatsApp will set the corresponding State as 'seen'. The blue check, in case you weren't aware, works exactly the same on Statuses and chat messages.
Spies on WhatsApp, you have it more difficult
This has just been confirmed by the official Wabetainfo account on Twitter:
'Previously, it was possible to turn off the message read notification to anonymously see status updates. It was a very used trick. Now, when you activate message reading notifications, WhatsApp will automatically send the corresponding notification to the creator of the Status, even if you have not opened the status subsequently. If you want to continue viewing the Status anonymously, you should not activate the message notification before the Status expires (within 24 hours)'

This trick seems a bit cumbersome but many users did it to see a Status, at a specific time, without the owner knowing it.They went to the WhatsApp settings, deactivated the message notification, went to the State in question, viewed it, and then reactivated the message notifications. Now, these 'spies' have to take into account that if they turn on the notification again of messages, the creator of the State will know that they have seen it.
To this WhatsApp novelty that we have encountered today we have to add other very recent ones, such as the activation of the Picture in Picture mode in the PC version of WhatsApp. Now, in the version of WhatsApp for your computer, you can see the videos that are sent to you in any chat window, modifying the window and placing it where you most want. A great way to be able to view content from YouTube, Instagram or Facebook in the messaging service without having to stay in the same chat window.
