Table of contents:
Each new year that comes comes full of good resolutions. What if eating better, doing a little more sport, quitting smoking... The vast majority of these resolutions have to do, of course, with our he alth. And to achieve this, our mobile phone can become the greatest of allies. Even with proposals that you would never believe that he could carry out, such as taking your pulse.
And indeed, in the Google Play Store we are going to find an application that takes our pulse and that, on top of that, works.Surely, its efficiency is not the same as that of a specialized heart rate monitor, but it can give us an idea of what approximate rate our heart may be at at any given time. Of course, if your intention is to find something that continuously monitors your heart rate, take a better look at the activity bracelets or smartwatches of different brands.
The application we are referring to is called 'Heart Rate - Pulse Monitor'. The application is free although it has a payment method, it contains ads and its installation file has a weight of almost 40 MB, so we recommend you download it using a WiFi connection.
Control your pulse with the 'Heart Rate' app
As soon as you open the 'Heart Rate' application for the first time, you will be presented with the home screen, with a brief informative text in English. We just have to press the 'Let's Get Started' to start placing our personal data. This is optional. The information we are asked for is the date of birth and gender On the last screen, the application informs you of the color key that it will use to determine your stripe heart rate, which will oscillate between rest and maximum frequency.
Next, you are going to take your pulse for the first time with the application. To begin, we have to click on 'Begin Measurement'. Give the app permissions to take photos and record videos. And this why? you will ask, not without reason. This is because the app uses the flash and the camera sensor to take your pulse. Now when you see that the flash light has come on, place your finger on the main camera sensor. If your terminal is double, try to place your finger so that it covers the two sensors, so that the measurement is even more precise.
This app uses the camera sensor to take your pulse
Keep your finger fixed on the camera sensor during the 10 seconds that the measurement lasts or until the application itself displays the results. The result will appear on a following screen, in which we are warned that to obtain graphs of results and thus see the evolution of our pulse we will need the premium version of the app. Instead of a single payment for the pro version, this app has a subscription system. You can pay 11 euros each month or 32 euros for the whole year (which comes out at a price of 2.66 euros per month).
If you prefer the basic version of the application, it will only offer you the pulse you have at that moment and a summary of the different calibrations of your pulse, such as what has been the maximum and the minimum. If you only want to know these data, at a given moment, this application gives you what it promises. If you want to go a little deeper you will have to go through the box to get graphs, heart rate zone, etc.
