Ariadne

Ariadna is an app developed by the Spanish Association of Cardiology that functions as an inventory of all defibrillators in Spain. It is a very useful tool to facilitate relief work in the event of cardiac arrest.

All defibrillators in Spain on a single map

The Ariadna app is available for free download for both Android and iOS: you'll find it on Google Play and the App Store in Manzana.

The application works as a complete directory of all the defibrillators available in Spain, both public and private. And they all appear geolocated on the map.

This means that, in the event of an accident or emergency situation, any user can consult from their phone where the nearest defibrillator is located .

The application is an initiative of the Spanish Society of Cardiology, which is asking for help to complete the information. Therefore, if you know of new defibrillators that do not appear on the map, you can contribute to the database by registering them yourself.

Ariadna intends to become a emergency help application, since it will also bring together doctors, nurses and other knowledgeable people necessary to intervene in a situation of this type.

How the Ariadna defibrillator mobile application works

Once you have downloaded and installed the app, the first step to start using it is to register. You will also need to grant location permissions.

In the registration form, enter your personal data –name, surname, autonomous community, email and password– and indicate which type username you are:

• Trackers: help complete the map information, registering new defibrillators.
• Collaborators: they are people qualified to attend in case of emergency (doctors, nurses and graduates in first aid and use of defibrillators) .

If you register as a tracker, you will earn badges on your profile every time you add defibrillators to the map. In each of them, you will have to zoom in and add some basic information along with some photos.

The application also offers the possibility of sharing the location to receive notifications in case of emergency. In this way, medical personnel can receive mobile alerts if an emergency occurs nearby.

How to find the nearest defibrillator in the app

If you witness an accident or an emergency situation, it is important that you call 112 before you start to act.

Afterward, if you need a defibrillator, all you have to do is enter the Ariadna Map section and click on your location.

The map will show the closest defibrillators, and you can click on them to obtain the information: where they are, at what time you can access… and even set the route to navigate there.

How to register a defibrillator in the Ariadna app

If you have registered as a tracker, you can add new defibrillators to the app. Click on the blue icon in the lower right corner and follow the instructions.

To add it, you will have to indicate the location, instructions on the address, and up to 3 images.

In addition, if you find defibrillators that are registered but not validated (ie, unverified), you can also validate them from the app. Of course: to validate a defibrillator it is essential to be in the specific location.
