How to extract the APK of an Android application
Table of contents:
There are certain occasions when Google decides to remove an app from its Play Store app store. So what can we do if we format our phone and need that app again? To do this, it is best to save a copy of the APK file of the application in question. This file is what an Android user needs to install an application in question. Anyone who has the APK of an app can easily install the app on their phone.
To extract the APK of an application, make backup copies of our applications or share them with our friends and contacts, we have two applications within the Play Store that are very easy to use. First of all, we have one of our own from Google, Files, which, in turn, is a file cleaner and explorer. Secondly, an application called ML Manager with which we can also extract the APK files of any application and install them on any mobile.
Extract an app's APK file with Files by Google
This application developed by Google itself is free, does not contain ads or payments and its download file has a weight of 9.6 MB. To extract the APK file of an application we are going to do the following.
As soon as we open the application we look at the bottom of it. We have three options, the first is to clean the terminal and the last to share files without Internet with other phones that have the application installed. In the middle we have the 'Explore' option that acts as a file explorer as well as an application manager. We enter 'Explore' and then 'Applications'. All the applications that we have installed on our phone will appear. We look for the application from which we want to extract the APK and click on the small arrow that we see on the right side.
A window with different options will then be displayed. We choose 'Share'. Now, we have the option to send the APK file to our email or to someone we trust through WhatsApp and, then, from here download the file.
Extract an app's APK file with ML Manager
ML Manager is a very light application whose main utility lies in extracting the installation file of a certain application. We can find it in the Google application store, it is free although it has a paid version and its installation file does not reach 3 MB in weight.
The first thing we have to do is allow the application to access the multimedia content and files on your device. In this way, ML Manager will be able to extract the APK of the application. Once we have given the permissions, all the applications that we have installed will appear with two options, extract or share the APK If we press 'extract' we will need an file manager files to find the APK. In the application settings (gear icon), in the 'Custom folder for APK' section you can configure the folder where the files are saved.
If we click on 'Share APK' we will see a list of applications through which we can share the file such as Gmail, WhatsApp or Telegram, depending on what we have installed on the phone.
