How to customize what happens when you swipe in Gmail
We are going to tell you what actions we can achieve when we swipe an email in the Gmail application with our finger. You may not even know that you can swipe emails in the app and then do whatever with it. This new feature came to all of us in June with update number 8.5.20. Simply, you enter the Gmail application, in your inbox, and slide each of the emails to one side or the other.
Before the application was renewed, the only action allowed was to archive mail Now, in addition, we can delete, mark such as read or unread, move to, postpone, or simply no action. To modify the actions, we are going to do the following.
We open the Gmail application on our mobile. In the upper left part of the screen we have the hamburger or three-line menu. We press it. We go down to the bottom until we see the 'Settings' section and then 'General settings'. We go on this screen to the section ‘Actions when sliding the finger‘. In this screen we are going to modify the actions corresponding to the mail according to the orientation towards which we slide the mail, to the left or to the right.
Click on each of the mail drawings to make the pop-up window appear. Then choose what default action you want to appear when you swipe the email left and right. Remember that we can decide, on each side, a different action, even choosing to do nothing on the left and any other action on the right.
In Gmail email notifications we can also choose between two actions when sliding our finger over it, delete and archive By default, We have the option of archiving, but the option of deleting, in our opinion, is much more effective, since it allows us to delete emails that do not interest us at the stroke of a pen. To do this, we have to go to the 'Settings' section, then 'General settings' and then 'Default notification action'.
As you have seen, thanks to sliding notifications and emails we can manage our emails more efficiently. Be sure to try these features in your own application!
